You could say this is a romantic comedy, though it takes some interesting twists which make it unique. To begin with, it is told from the point of view of the man –believe it or not, men fall in love as well- which is in itself a refreshing change.
This young man has had his heart broken by a girl he dated for over a year, and we are taken back and forth in time over the 500 days they shared. It is basically a journey through the different stages in a relationship, including both good and bad times. 500 days of Summer is one of the most realistic romantic movies I have seen in a while, with believable characters and situations. Anyone who has been in a relationship, and particularly anyone who has ever had a broken heart , can relate to this story.
The film is beautifully shot, and the wonderful soundtrack perfectly matches its mood.
I suggest you give it a try. I promise you will not be disappointed.
